As part of the ongoing (but slow...) process of realigning the old Godzone magazine scenery with the new mesh, I'm in the process of putting the finishing touches to what was the old Taupo scenery, somewhat misnamed because it doesn't include Taupo...

You can see a few screenshots here.

If you click on the medium-sized images, you can see the full-sized screenshot, which is the preferred way to view them.
This project was an experement in geo-referencing the old LINZ images. It worked out very well -- with a spot-on alignment first time, rather than the days it took to do the first version back in 2003:)
It was so successful that it should speed-up this project. Next may be the Thames Peninsula.

oh errr thats cool :P I noticed that the Blue Lake is not very Blue? Looks a bit frozen over. Just wondering before its release if you could add some steam around the Keteahi Hotsprings on the side of Tongariro which you can see from the main Road?

Been looking forward to that being re realeased Robin :P

As for the name maybe you should call it Tongariro! As the bulk of the scenery is of the Tongariro region of which Ngauruhoe is just a vent of Mount Tongariro despite its size compared to Tongariro.

Yes it would be nice to include some steam around the Keatihi Hot Springs and if you want I can get you the locations of the huts on the Northern circuit of which a talented scenery designer could make up so Photoreal huts?

I sure know of one person who would be interested in that project B)

This has now been released on the Avsim library. I've renamed it Turangi, as that's as good a place to fly from as any.
Maybe someone can take up the suggestions adding some steam etc, but I'm a bit busy at the moment.

Edit 2: It's downloaded and installing now. I'm sure I can get just a quick load up and take a look ....

Edit 3: K, I am an impatient bugger. Here are 4 quick shots. Awesome work mate, now I HAVE to get going and back to work lol..

Very nice fit, Robin.
This can't hurt your position as No.1 in the NZ scenery design field, for sure.

Ahh yep Turangi is as good as any :P

About the steam yep should be able to sort that out simple enough with a bit of local knowledge as the where to add but as for the technical side might need some help

Just for a bit of info the terrain may be slightly adjusted soon ;)
