mmmhhh so who do you think made the mistake from the info we have so far ? the solo 17 year old or the 30 instructor and well know rescue pilot training a student heli pilot

id pick the 17 solo over the rescue heli pilot anyday .. those guys know there stuff ifr etc plus he was teaching at the time ,you know how it is when ya doing your car license tests ,points taken off if you don't do things right ..

Age wasn't a factor. Perhaps it had somethign to do with the fact he was a student pilot with not as much experience as the other two. If the 17 year old was a 40 year old then it would still be his fault.

I really think people should just leave this one well alone and stop all the f*****g theories and speculation 3 people are dead 3 families have lost a loved one and many more people have been badly affected by this accident with out people who have no facts of any kind apart from what 1 guy said to another guy who told the other guy up the road putting in there pieces to form one big huge cr@p story thats why we have Accident Investigators if any one should be shot its the "Arm Chair Critics".

RIP Dave, James and Bevan and many Condolences to Family and Friends

End of B!tch Session

Ok boys and girls... I have resisted posting this, and in any case it looks like Scott has similar sentiments to myself, if somewhat more blunt....

but...

People seem to be losing sight of the fact that 3 young men will never be going home to their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, wives, girlfriends and children...

So, can we all please leave the 'Big Finger O Blame' safely tucked away in your drawer/under your bed/in your pocket or where-ever else you like to keep it??

No-one here, myself included, knows the full facts, and until the crash investigation and associated facts are in the public domain, it is not helpful and somewhat disrespectful, to be apportioning blame to any particular party.

In light of this, please feel free to edit your posts as you see appropriate.

I was waiting for that obligatory 'stop speculating' post for every air crash thread :P

Yer very true. Money would be an issue, as it probably would increase fees and costs, but should there be a price on safety?

I think the increased safety would outweigh the increased costs.

Cheers

I thought CAA was looking at reducing the number of Towers in NZ, especially those providing procedural domestic only services such as Invercargill? I thought I heard it mentioned in late 2006 but can't find anything about it on the CAA site.

It is worth considering how many mid-air collisions world wide occured in controlled airspace before assuming that safety is directly related to the level of control provided - and it would be procedural not radar. Some of the things that happen in NZQN controlled airspace make me shudder.
