Seneca Gear Collapse Paraparaumu today

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Unbelievable, go to Paraparamu today to watch and listen to traffic on the scanner to get familiar with this airfield and the first plane I see land, a Piper Seneca, has its landing gear collapse just after touchdown! The left gear folded up causing it to ground loop to the left and end up on the grass abeam the runway pointing in the oposite direction! No big dramas, the pilot shut down both engines, the ocupants climbeb out and they closed the runway. Its not everyday you see something like this.

haha bugger. Dirty old ROC. As soon as I saw the title with the words senica and paraparumu I knew it could only be one plane. (yes there are more than one senica there but this one which would be the first to have someting like this) The greak will be most dissapointed.

Was 1.45pm. No emergency services attended so they must have been going somewhere else.

It was pretty sureal actually, no noise or anything just a sudden groundloop left onto the grass. Was a fluke that it was the first landing I watched though!
