NZ8079 Emergency landing

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Spot the deliberate mistake!

Full article here

The TV3 site is a laugh a minute. The writers/editors must be about 12 yrs old - or have reading ages well below that. I pick up RSS feeds from the site in Firefox (fun, but very bad for productivity) and hardly a day goes by on TV3 without spelling mistakes, bad grammar or sloppy reporting. It really is quite a disgrace. I've complained, but not even had the courtesy of a reply (surprise, surprise). Maybe they don't know how to pick up email?

Yours truly,
Bolshy from Birkenhead.

Yeah .. the person in their office must also work for that local rag 'The Herald' ,

bet they didnt mention how many got of the plane , due to a failure in the structure , 19 passengers got off before landing at the airport .. local fishermen were picking them up all morning ... they felt a bit wet behind the ears due to the expose,r to channel conditions . ohmy.gif

This is your local reporter for TV3 blink.gif and speedy report to the Herald

Yes i agree whole heartedly Adamski! If you are writing on forums or blogs, e-mails to mates it's ok to mispell the odd word or two, but news on the internet!!!

This is not the first time i've seen them put on any old plane photo to go with a 'plane' story. Would the do the same with politicians, probably would come to think of it.

Bloody monkeys! How hard is it to get a story correct?!?
' Have you ever notice that the experts who decree that the age of the pilot is over are people who have never flown anything? In spite of the intensity of their feelings that the pilot's day is over I know of no expert who has volunteered to be a passenger in a non-piloted aircraft..'

Horrible, isn't it? You'd have thought that they could at least show some respect to the family by getting the facts straight. The story is nearly a week old now - they have NO excuse. I'm wondering whether they've even got the family names right.

It makes you think - how much of what we're being fed through the media is accurate these days? So much is syndicated or plain plagiarised that I don't think anyone checks their [original] sources any more.

I had a huge argument with our daughter's history teacher - who claimed that Kelvin "invented and built" the transatlantic cable - which he absolutely did NOT. All he did was to invent the electronic repeater that *made it possible*. "Isn't it the same thing?" she said. [sigh].

A very 'ivory tower' view old boy! Haven't you, like the rest of us, been following the story here, on the web and on the TV etc? I agree that media intrusion in private grief is vulture like, however, it is the net result of the insatiable appetite the public seems to have. The least they can do is get the damn story accurate.
