Luggage delays

I went through Mexico City airport recently in transit, but had to reclaim my bag. The wait at the baggaga carousel was 2 hours and 5 minutes to get the bag. I was not the last either. That got me thinking, how long have you waited for your bags?

My longest is now Mexico City, 2 hours and 5 minutes after landing. Anyone with a longer wait, apart from lost baggage of course??

smooth landings.

Longest approx 1 hour in Kiev(our flight was delayed and we stucked some sort of "flight jam", when 4 767 arrived in short period of time(while another 5 flights on 737/320 arrived)... And another case can not call it lost baggage... ive had overnight in FRA(15 hours between flights), and LH just forgot my bag in FRA, so it arrived in 5.5 hours via Munich, all that time i was sitting in terminal, as all of my winter clothes were in that bag, and i was weared only in T-shirt and jeans, while temperature outside was near -10 with nice very nice snow smile.gif
In NZ no longer than 15minutes on domestic flights and 20 min on international(usually takes me 20 minutes from the plane to arrival area.

technically still waiting (over 4 years)

on my way back from my trip to the UK i stood round waiting for my bag for 4 hrs then noticed sitting on the luggage rack, a handle off a bag, turned out that the handle was mine and the bag was just simply gone sad.gif never got compensation or anything.

Nope never worry about baggage up here. Why, only way to get here is by a Dash 7, or Dc-3. Even the occasional 737 polar bear you claim your luggage at plane side before going into terminal. Good ol Yellowknife not even a jetway, just roll up the steps and depart cabin and collect your baggage plane side. Our airport is a living time line of aviation. Although if you opt to go to the Water Aerodome then it can be a 1 hour wait due to Customs and Inspections.

Never had a very long wait, I'd say 25 minutes max. I seem to remember at one airport I visited in Zimbabwe there weren't any carousels so it was just a case of lay the baggage out on the tarmac and grab what's yours.

I haven't been anywhere for years that I couldn't cover with well packed carry-on bags so no wait at all for me either - no baggage claim, I always use the red channel in the MAF quarantine because it's normally empty (I pack a sacrificial muesli bar specifically to declare) and out ... Best time from out the plane door to out the terminal door so far has been 9 minutes in Auckland, longest time was in Brisbane when we were the third plane in a bunch to land and that was still under 20 minutes.

Mum and Dad are over flying with all the baggage limits and queues and security scans. They only travel by cruise ship now. They might change from one ship to another or stay in one port for a few days, but if they can't cruise Auckland to Auckland it doesn't happen.
