If I heard the "eye witness" correctly on TV1 last night, he seemed to indicate that the smoke display changed from white to black just before the crash,
possible engine failure.......pure speculation of course...?

i wouldn't think a engine failure could cause a crash like that.

white to black, engine fire?
that would probably blind the pilot

I think we should leave the investigating to the experts.

Lets please leave the speculating and let him RIP.

And ofcourse hope this is the last one in a long time

Yeah I don't think it would be a good idea to speculate on what happened too much just yet, there isn't a whole lot of detailed information available really beyond the photo of the wreckage which doesn't indicate much beyond that it doesn't look like it was a controlled crash landing.

My post, a few back, was merely to point out a reported comment from an eye-witness, that I thought was interesting.

When a high profile pilot, engaged in an inherently more dangerous style of flying crashes, people will always speculate as to the cause.

I don't see that this is in any way disrespectful, and obviously has no bearing on the official enquiry that everyone knows is tasked to find out the causes.

After all, this is an aviation based forum, discussion is normally seen as healthy.
