Just watched a DVD documentary called 'Darwins Nighmare' about the city of Mwanza, Tanzania. Lots of the film is based around the airport there, with the central theme explored revolving around the arms and ammunition being snuggled in to the country in Ilyushin Il-76 that carry out fish from Lake Victoria to Europe. Some really good footage of the aircraft coming into land, and some quite shocking images of dozens of large cargo aircraft crashed in the surrounding vicinity, usually due to overloading at takeoff.

I got cracking on Wikipedia after watching the movie, reading up on the area and through clicking a few links, I came across this really cool blog by an ex-pat Kiwi who started bush flying C208 Caravans over in Africa with less than 300 hours under his belt. I've seen that film, it's quite good. A real eye opener too, the conditions they are flying in there.
