Skyhawk wrong information !

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Postby Splitpin » Sun Jun 19, 2011 4:20 pm

Ive been reading bits and pieces on other forums about the arrival of the 2nd A-4 at Wigram (05) I can tell you now , with authority, that it is not arriving on wednesday this week.
The museum (Wigram) was the first to receive an aircraft , and it will be the last to receive one.....at this point we are looking at 3 to 4 months at least before the aircraft will be here.

All the GHE (ground handling equip) has to be used at other museum sites , and then it will be used for the last time, and retained , at Wigram.

By all means come out on Wednesday, but you WONT see another skyhawk.

As of today 05 looks like this, I took this last weekend while looking at another that will be moving soon.
I will be pleased to see the rest getting out of the harsh weather soon.

05 , all nicely wrapped for me biggrin.gif , one thing i do wonder - why the external fuel tanks not loaded course no weight as they would be empty but they could not even spare room to have them inside and another shows a good study off the air intake .

By all means come out on Wednesday, but you WONT see another skyhawk. Marty give me a call i'll come out with you and give you a hand . smile.gif

Will do Ian.....i didn't mean to sound like a smart a*** about 05, but there are a lot of people around at the moment with a little information, and no facts.

You might need to mention this to the Guides as it was from one of them that we got the Wednesday arrival date!

For the money it cost to mothball them (Thirty*Four*Million*Dollars), you could have flown the lot over to the Mojave and parked them - and had change for a hell of a party...

I'm not sure you would do it any cheaper over a 10 year period? But if you want to talk money wasted, lets not forget the millions it cost Aunty Helen to cancel the F-16's - In excess of $100m from memory.

Sad to hear about your Dad, hope he gets well soon. yeah barf is a nice guy, he gave me some info a colour scheme for the Museums's Avenger. (I have a soft spot for that one as I was on the restoration team back in 79/80 even got to ground run her several time too. Not bad at 18!)
Don and I were txting this morning(checking we were ok after another dam quake) wondering if the A4 in the atrium moved like it apparently did last Monday! We are taking bets as to whether its nose is in the shop now ha ha.

Frankly we should have stayed with the Americans , they go on about Nuclear Power which we should have , New Zealanders cant even clean up the mess,s everywhere around icon areas , load double talk and as for the greenies maybe they should clean there back yard up first , boy some parts are a hell of mess , ME - as for trusted aircraft all appear to be USA - C130/P3/the Boeing,s ..oh the Skyhawk , ..... now maybe we should simply buy Chinese , cheaper ? .. Global World Economics and Politics - we should have kept it regional 'Oceania' Pacific rim and USA .
