I see on the CAA aircraft register this aircraft is listed as a North American F-51D

I believe all post war P-51s were redesignated "F-51" under the new system of using F for Fighter rather than P for Pursuit. Basically a naming technicality, it's exactly the same as a P-51D.

Yep thats correct In 1948, the designation P-51 (P for pursuit) was changed to F-51 (F for fighter), and the existing F designator for photographic reconnaissance aircraft was dropped because of a new designation scheme throughout the USAF.

I suspect it may be only temporary.

I have had conformation that Elly May is temporary and in fact has already been removed. I personally think that a repaint for both the A2A and Warbird sim P51,s is still a great idea
