The pilot , "He did not want to talk about the incident until he had spoken to police. " just hoping they had a large tube of glue to stick the tail back on ...

Yeah well done. I'm pretty sure that machine was once owned by Marine Helicopters in Auckland.
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

Pilot thanks his lucky stars

A helicopter pilot who was forced to make an emergency landing near the Brook Valley had just picked the helicopter up from maintenance in Nelson when the engine failed.
