TVNZ News covered the
Michael Jackson’s HIStory World Tour with his entourage arrival at RNZAF Whenuapai Airbase from Bangkok, Thailand for the MJ Oceania leg of the Concert World Tour in November 1996. After his Two Auckland Concert shows, MJ then took his entourage across the Tasman to complete the Australian leg of his HIStory World Tour.
One of his chartered Boeing 707's is seen in this video footage
Michael Jackson in NEW ZEALAND, 1996 @ 0:25 along with his exit down the air-stairs to be greeted by NZ entertainer Sir Howard Morrison at the bottom of the air-stair.
RNZAF Whenuapai Airbase was likely used instead of NZAA International Airport due to CAA NZ and Auckland International Airport Ltd rules and regulations, around aircraft noise abatement procedures, as the aircraft operation using the older type 1950's - 1960's Boeing 707's exceeded the allowable Noise limit at the time to be able land at NZAA. Also RNZAF Whenuapai has VIP Customs and Immigration private screening facilities at hand for the MJ Concert Tour entourage.

We got to look through the plane he flew in, including his bedroom, complete with his jackets hanging in the wardrobe.....didn't spot any gloves though!!. Because one of the 707s did not have an APU, we had to provide a ground start cart and crew to start the aircraft on departure.
