Arr BUGGER it ! :huh:
"It said the C-17s would be a "desirable acquisition" and noted that there were only eight to 10 of the aircraft left for sale."
Just go with the way of the LAV deal buy the lot and this time we could rent them out ...... BARGAIN ! :rolleyes:

The NZ Herald is a bit out of date...there is only 5 left as 2 (and possibly another 2) have gone to Australia, 1 to Canada and another 2 to UAE.

If they go with C-17s I'm thinking a C-17/C-130J or a C-17/C-27 mix. The other option would be a A400/C-295 mix.

Too bad we're 89 billion in debt and can't afford 600 million. Stil waiting on those F-16's Jenny promised. ..

:rolleyes: I do these load of RUBBISH white paper doc's .. the way New Zealand buys and sells , .. before any decider is made the C-17s will be gone and long forgotten , toilet paper material , unless go the 'my idea' buy the lot .. least and rent them , make some moneys and generate work as well , If you cannot 'save the face' loosing a 'strike force' build it on being a saving force .... :huh:

I question why a debated over transports, everyone worried about moneys - same happen with happened with late 1990 to early 2000 .. ole bloody horsey 'Clark' had a chip on its shoulder even when the Skyhawks were first brought in .... course with that the many stupid closers and loss off a lot of skilled staff and course the history .

I have not met him but bumped into him , short bugger .. But has been there done that ..
NZ First defence spokesman Ron Mark has opposed the purchase of C-17s because he said most of the NZDF's work involved short-distance missions.

Yeah, travelling between Defence HQ at Grey Lynn and Whenuapai Airbase (20 mins away) or Papakura Army Base (30 mins away). Pretty short distance...

He probably thinks he can buy a couple of Belugas and use them as tankers... :idea:

The biggest Whale around here is Ian and his Whaling over the loss of Wigram.
You might as well accept it and get on with life as you are never going to get Wigram back as an Airforce base.

I'm not the only one .. you get all the RNZAF and EX boys beside ya, ... I keep Whaling about hoping the Japanese may do a little Spear Fishing to a few corrupt Gov peoples ... all the air force boys love me ... least I have the balls to say something .
