Oh dear VCM was a 172 that a guy I worked with bought back from the States back in the 90s - along with another similar 172.

High wing GA aircaft are probably a bit dodgey at times in Wellington - betcha this wouldn't have happened with a Piper, Beechcraft etc

i got to see the aircraft up close before i did my cross country flight with ATC. both wings were munted and the engine might have internal damage. the rudder was bent over and the windscreen smashed. it's pretty much a write-off i'd say :P
