WHy would Qantas ever go under? The Australian government would just chuck some more money into Qantas if they were starting to take a turn for the worse.

They won't. I said, in the unlikely case that they DID go under, is there any other airline big enough to fill in the gap?

Why an Earth would Qantas go bust? They are a big airline and I think it would take something pretty bad for it to go under.
There would be a too bigger gap in the Australian aviation market. Even with all the new carriers it would take a while to recover.

Qantas isn't going under. They may be having trouble, but I doubt they would go under unless something really bad really big happened.
They're big, got fairly deep pockets, got the Jetstar brand and are the controlling airline in Australia.
The Australian government wouldn't let them go down I don't think, just like ours with Air NZ.

Why ANZ? Why not Indian Airlines? rolleyes.gif
Virgin Blue/Jetstar/Tiger Airways would fill the gap relatively quickly, but as said before, it won't happen.
