CIPP is part of the Cadet Scheme. After you finnish your training- You are sent to fly at one of those places in the CIPP. After flying there for 2 years, gaining valuble flying experience, then you are offered a Job at the "Qantas Group"

Well thats not exactly right either

(note: all emphasis added by me...)

QUOTE
What happens after the Cadet Industry Placement Program (CIPP)?

Cadet pilots are not employees of Qantas and Qantas gives no guarantee or commitment of future employment at any time after completion of the training phase of the Cadet Pilot Program and the CIPP. During the CIPP, Cadet's will be subject to the conditions of employment of their respective CIPP employers.

Cadets who successfully complete the CIPP may be considered for employment as a pilot at Qantas. Employment opportunities with Qantas will be based on a Cadet's individual performance throughout Phase One and Two of the Program and on Qantas' pilot recruitment requirements at the time of completion of the CIPP.

Cadets who complete the CIPP would not be required to re-sit any of the normal Direct Entry assessments in order to be considered for employment.

If it is the case that Qantas is not employing at the time of completion of the CIPP, employment at Qantas may be delayed until a position is available. Qantas employment conditions would only commence when employment with Qantas Airways commenced. That is, the CIPP does not count for service or the accrual of any benefits at Qantas.

If you do not successfully complete the CIPP, employment opportunities at Qantas would be reviewed. In such cases Qantas reserves the right to not offer you employment at Qantas.[/quote]

Dont get me wrong, I am not bagging out the Qantas Cadet Scheme... I think it is great that airlines are even running schemes like this as it helps provide another path into an aviation career... my point is that one should be fully aware of what the course is and what it actually offers...

1. A Degree (if doing one of the degree options as opposed to the Commercial option)
2. A CPL + MEIR
3. 2 years flying experience with <insert suitable aviation company here>
4. The possibility of employment within Qantas should they happen to need pilots after completing your 2 years CIPP and your performance during those 2 years is satisfactory

ps. no-one called you a dickhead... he actually called himself a dick...
