Which are going to come from where exactly? The Indonesians have two C-130's capable of refueling. They each have a max range of 8000km, an SU27/30 has a range of 3500km at altitude so that gives a possible range of about 5500km if they were to fly in a straight line with nil wind. Of course flying in a straight line would put them through Australian Airspace, and im sure the RAAF would have something to say about that.
China doesn't have aircraft carriers so it would be a huge logistical undertaking to get a combat ready SU30/37 as far South as NZ in order to attack and I dont think the Russians would be interested in attacking us.
All other operators are either allies, or too far away/insignificant to warrant an attack on NZ.Last edited by redkiwi on Wed Sep 17, 2008 1:11 pm, edited 1 time in total.

[This comes from what an airforce pilot told me, hopefully that was what he was trying to say, he didnt mention anything about getting them doing it to get famil'd on dashes for possible RNZAF training]
Just had my interview to progress on to PERSEL next year... the recruiter said there is a six month gap between Kingair Course (advanced flying training) and operational conversion to C-130/P3/757. This is due to an instructor shortage which has lead to a large number of pilots waiting in line to proceed, and the flow on effect is that they are not taking on full wings courses (usually 12 pilots per 6mths). I'm guessing the guys that have gone to Eagle are simply there to keep them current as 6mths is a long time to be out of the cockpit for an 'operational' pilot.
