Yesterday a few guys from another forum went to Wigram and Ferrymead for a tour.
Was my first trip there in 25 years so a lot as changed.

This Viscount is amazing, the RF4D a time capsule, and the Harvard is receiving some attention and looks really good.
Main reason for my trip was to see the Mosquito and it was great to see it but the the highlight for me was the Hudson.
A lot of outside finishing work still needs to be done but inside the aircraft looks brand new and the cockpit section is seen below.

Was well worth the 8 hour trip in the car and hopefully some Christchurch based aviation minded people who are no longer involved with Wigram head over to Ferrymead as they could do with a hand.

The trip to Wigram was good as well and thanks to the guides for their time.
The Sopwith Pup has been moved since my last trip and is now upstairs and can be viewed close up.

Some interesting exhibits there - the Viscount looks really good, much better than the last time I saw photos of it.

Hi
Have they still got the Sunderland bow section as work in progress at Ferrymead - I sent them an air to air photograph of that particular a/c so just curious as it has been a while since I was in ChCh.

WOW .. Gate 1 .. i recall gates 3 and 4 the most accessible .. it was the Sixties

I do recall the day they towed the LC-47 from Harewood to Ferrymead , taken power lines down , this was pre the one-way system in roading
