The sanctions dont let them buy Boeing, Airbus and numerous other aircraft that have parts of the plane manufactured in the USA.

Just another excuse , if they maintained there aircraft ... key word is maintained ! , many airlines in the world have American and Airbus products and they just run em into the ground ( not a pun) .. Garuda would be a classic .
