Green tailed 737?

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Postby BigBird » Tue Oct 27, 2009 2:37 pm

Had to go to Albany at lunchtime today. Coming to Constellation Drive, I spotted a low flying 737 which seemed to be headed for NZWP. Have never seen a 737 in this livery before. It had a white fuselage with a predominantly green tail and a yellow/orange section on the front of the fin. Anyone know who owns this bird or where it came from?

It was flying all around NZ today, came to Tauranga and did some circuits. It looked very much like the Priority Toll 737. I had a good look at it and my mates around NZ also saw it..

I initially thought it might be a Toll a/c.

Definitely looks like it now that I've seen a pic.

And in fact it was ZK-TLA in the Toll livery. It was carrying out a test flight after heavy maintenance.

I saw it going into NZWP wheels up, it did look somewhat out of place!

Saw it again this afternoon from a better angle - as SA227 is it certainly is ZK-TLA in TOLL livery...

Is it a private company aircraft?

One of 3 we have operating in Australia at the moment. It came across for scheduled maintenance. It's a little different from a standard 300 in that it has a universal avionics setup rather than the standard Boeing.

Do they ever perform trans-tasman freight duties or are they only operating domestic freight in Oz for Toll?
What about over to Norfolk Island, or other pacific regions from Oz?

update: coincidentally, looks like there was a new Toll repaint of the Wilco 737 of TLA uploaded to AVSim on Thursday (filename: 737-300_toll.zip)

Normally just freight for Toll between Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane but also charters to Cairns and the pacific islands.
