I'm constantly appalled at how chronic our news service is here. It's either just cut 'n' paste from some syndicated (US) feed or is put together by some illiterate school leaver:

Did the glider collide with a turboprop? If they can't find an appropriate pic then why use one at all?

Full (sort of) story here ...

You mean a "Dreamliner"? That makes it even worse! I thought it looked a bit like a Dash-8 or B1900 - but I'm no expert!

Sort of disrespectful to the [dead] pilot somehow. They should be a little more "delicate" with serious injury (or death) news items.

probably one of their 'stock' images they use until they can find an appropriate image.

if you check their page again you will notice it is a Glider image now

Well wishes to the families of both pilots.

Well the news link now has a glider picture on it, so obviously a temporary glitch. A tragedy - Mike is well know in Blenheim and is ex Air Force. Such a terrible time of year to have this happen as well.

They replaced it after my rather terse note - which they had the good grace to allow past the mod. I'm still cheesed off that they would even consider using such an inappropriate "stock" image - particularly in such a tragic case. Anyway - I've posted another note - to ask for my original one to be removed (if they wish).

It's really been a terrible year for NZ aviation, hasn't it? sad.gif
