Hi all,
Those of you following the lead-up to Warbirds Over Wanaka 2010 will no doubt be aware the team have pushed the idea of a Mystery Overseas Aircraft not seen here before. For months nothing official has surfaced, there are rumours of something from Temora, or Murray Miers' soon-to-appear new-build Focke Wulf 190. I went to the Warbirds Information Exchange forum just now to check a rumour I'd just heard and forum member "Dan Newcomb", from the Commemorative Air Force's Southern California wing, has posted this:
"It is my understanding that our Zero will be shipped to New Zealand next month to participate in an air show. We will send a crew and will fly an aerobatic routine. The Zeke will be back in the States in April. I will keep you posted."
According to CAF SoCal's website the machine is an A6M3 "sponsored" by David Price, who some of you may remember had a respectable collection based in California some years ago. If this machine is indeed coming to Wanaka, we can expect to see this through our unbelieving eyes: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Mitsubishi-...isen/1133942/L/
Great news!
