The pilot of a small aircraft is safe after he was forced to land on a beach near Papamoa in the Bay of Plenty on Monday afternoon.
The pilot, flying a Jabiru 120, made a “precautionary†landing at about 1.30pm. The aircraft was on a local flight out of Tauranga airport. The landing was made on the ocean beach about 15km from the airfield.
Looks like he did a great job of putting it down, it would have been pretty much low tide so plenty of wet sand to roll out on
