I keep seeing the letters 'RM' on the end of METAR reports for NZAA and cant find a definition for the abbreviations in my AIP volumes, can anyone shed any light on it? I'm pretty sure its different meaning to 'RMK'

Here is an example of this mornings 8am METAR:
NZAA 182000Z 13004KT 9999 0600W R23L/0650DN PRFG FEW001 08/08 Q1014 BECMG NSW RM

I understand all of it apart from the last two letters... blink.gif

Just looked up that METAR and it is actually this:

METAR 182000Z 13004KT 9999 0600W R23L/0650D PRFG FEW001 08/08 Q1014 BECMG NSW RMK SPECI RVR

Looks like your METAR is getting cut off. where are you getting it from?

Ah, that makes sense. This METAR was copied off my Ipod touch, using the AeroWeather app- it must have a character limit to fit everything on the screen.

I usually use the metflight site down at school, but when its early in the morning and I'm warm in bed, reaching over for the ipod to figure out whether I need to actually get out into the cold is much more handy the firing up the computer tongue.gif
