LONELY CHOPPER: Taranaki's $4 million rescue helicopter is parked in a New Plymouth paddock because aviation rules say it is unsafe to land at Taranaki Base Hospital.[/quote]

sounds like a loada horse dung to me
... had to say that
Looks like a Agusta 109, jus like what the RNZAf is getting - can't have them new 109 LUH's flying around over built up areas in case the engine fails - isn't the Police Eagle helicopters single engine Squirrels??
Stephen, the Naki Agusta is a A119 which is the single engine version of the RNZAFs Twin engine A109s. The Police Squirrels are twin engine (AS -355s)
I was surprised to learn that the Taranaki chopper is single engined. I would have thought with the oil/gas rigs in the area that a twin engined beast would be the logical choice. I do note that it apears to have 'emergency' floats on the skids.
I've seen it a couple of times in Wellington and it is a very smart chopper from a distance to look at. At wok we are getting the Palmy chopper more often for medical transfers than what we used to, I guess thats this rule coming into effect.
