The mother of all crosswinds! So bad none of the WWI and earlier generation planes were flying.

Mother of all rains! So bad the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight didnt attend, because they fly in dry conditions because of the age of the aircraft!

Ok not a plane BUT its a barrel section from a supergun that was made for Saddam and was intercepted by HM Customs before it got to him. Incidentally Gerard Bull, the guy who designed the gun, was a ballistics genious but he sold himself out to the "bad guys". Was eventually topped by Mossad.

Taken on the 9th of July. Quite an apt photo given the events two days earlier!

These photos are from the open air museum which was held in St James Park. It was part of the celebrations to mark the end of WWII.

Lots of great pics. Love the SU-27, and of course all the WWII birds. :)

Fantastic photographs mailman, thank you ever so much for sharing :D

I also love airshows, and I think they are proberly what got me into aviation so much, after visiting the annual free show at Eastbourne as a kid.

I have also been to the Shoreham, Chaily and Dunsfold ones, all great fun too :D

I think as this is a NZ site, I better dig out my Ardmore shots and post them, I belive the next show at NZAR is due this year ... :)

I really enjoyed the Ohakea airshows when we had jets :) Always a good day out.

Also before I moved to England I was tied up with the vintage aviation people out at Masterton and just before their airshow one of the SQNLDR's from Ohakea came over on a Harvard and did his solo A4 display in the old prop and absolutely nailed the routine! Fantastic flying in such an old and slow plane :)

But I reckon the best airshow Ive been to here in Europe was Biggin Hill last year. You could actually park up on the flight line in your car, pull ou the bbq and have a really good day out :) Coolest part was when the Tornado took off with full AB and set off all the alarms in the cars parked near the runway :)

Great shots, would love to go to Paris airshow myself one day. Hope to make it over to Avalon for the Aussie Airshow next year though. Apparently there will be a Raptor there, here's hoping :D
