A Dash-8 crashed in PNG leaving 28 dead. Both pilots survived (an Australian and a New Zealander). Do we know any details?

It will be interesting to find what happened here its relatively flat with hills/mountains on the out skirts.
You get violent thunderstorms / embedded thunderstorms all the time either go into a hold or if safe enuff try
to make visual follow the river around to the threshold. Sounds like they wer enroute to madang.

Very strange for the two pilots to survive but not the majority of the passengers. Maybe indicates a fire. unsure.gif

No, there hasn't been any mention of a fire but it seems strange that the two people sitting at the front of the plane survived and many in the cabin didn't. unsure.gif

That's not uncommon in air accidents - the nose area isn't always the first part to hit the ground, and the pilots are usually better restrained than the passengers.

also adding , the terrain is also a large factor , so rugged in that area , cross a knoll and you survive , only that second counts
