A little off topic - Ex Kiwi Flag 2012

Exercise KIWI FLAG comes to Whakatane

The Royal New Zealand Air Force is to use Whakatane Airport as part of a multi-nation air transport exercise next week.

Exercise KIWI FLAG will run from March 26 till April 4 and will be based at Whenuapai Airport. RNZAF C130 Hercules and B200 King Air aircraft will be joined by similar size transport aircraft from other countries for the exercise, which will involve low-level flying and takeoffs and landings at “unfamiliar airfieldsâ€￾ in a variety of centres.

Permission to use Whakatane Airport has been granted on the basis that the exercise operations will fit in with scheduled flight services and the needs of other airport users.

13th AF participating in Kiwi Flag for the first time
JOINT BASE PEARL-HARBOR HICKAM, Hawaii -- The U.S. will participate in exercise Kiwi Flag 2012 and the Ohakea Airshow 2012 at Royal New Zealand Ohakea Air Force Bases Whenuapai and Ohakea, Mar. 26 through Apr. 4.

This is the first time the U.S. is participating in a Kiwi Flag exercise. Two C-17 Globemaster IIIs are scheduled to represent the U.S. in the exercise and at the airshow.

Through this exercise and other regional events, the U.S. is able to develop and expand combined airlift capabilities with the Royal New Zealand Air Force and regional Air Forces. Kiwi Flag advances military interoperability and coalition building between the U.S., New Zealand, and regional nations.

This exercise celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

They going out for a whale of a time , think Christchurch has now been picked as they place not to go since the military establishment decided to many angry people really got Wobbly over the closer of Wigram and scared the local populist will attack em with broken pitch falks.
