29th is getting pretty close... seemed so remote until now.
I am truly tempted to go and stand there and listen to it.
Think of it: the only one there is, at present.

I hate to rain on any parades (or airshows for that matter) but there is certainly no guarantee that it will be ready to fly on the 29th. There's still a tonne of work and testing to be done before then...

We can only hope for the best smile.gif

One engine was run today, so that's one step closer at least!

I have my ticket! I think whether it flies or not it will still be a great day, fingers crossed but as close as it looks to being complete, as Mr A185F said, there is still plenty of testing to be done before they'd risk taking it to the air.

This has happened with Sir Tim and the Hurricane and happens world wide and as the then one and only Connie test pilot who rated anyone back in 1993/4 ... said , "this is a rear bird .. we don't want to rush it and don't want to break first time out"

Ah, the dulcet tones of a merlin. MMMmmm - audio porn. tongue.gif I just discovered reading one of the earlier links on this thread that my friend from school, Andrew Hoskins, is involved with the project. He was always a keen model aircraft enthusiast - now he gets to play with the BIG toys! Not sure if he was the one doing the engine run up - saw him climb the ladder on the far side near the start of the vid, so maybe he gets first dibs. Wonder if it was tempting just to open the throttle up a LITTLE more... biggrin.gif

Anyone got any idea as to why they shut-down quickly on the first run-up? One of the lads there seemed to spot something and asked the pilot to kill the engine?

Check out this vid. Some of you may have seen it before. Very good look into modern cnc machining methods being applyed to an old aircraft remake. This will probably be the most accurately built Mosy ever made without a doubt.

It would be great for them to compile the building and restoration and the using these CNC s

What that little film shows is just how clever they were back pre 1940 and would make the DH group envious not to have a machine like that , i have operated a metal variant , when this first install and tested it was very impressive ... the tooling loading , cripes it was quick !

A week to go before the show , they might have it running , almost be worth taken a weeks holiday and return Ardmore each day to wait and maybe watch some tests and get some great photos possibly .
