New Zealand airline plans Antarctic ice landings

AIR NEW ZEALAND 767-300 INVITED TO FLY SOUTH
Antarctica New Zealand has invited Air New Zealand to assist with transporting Antarctic Scientists between Christchurch New Zealand and Ross Island Antarctica on a charter basis. The proving flight is scheduled to depart Auckland International Airport on October 5 2013

Good luck to them, starting from Auckland , maybe transit stop at Christchurch at later stages .

Six hours in a 767 ? That would be a breach of the Geneva or Hague Conventions, on "cruel and unusual punishments."

So what about the ANZ daily return between Auckland and Perth where they quite often use the 767 approx 6 and a half hrs

Doug, there are quite a few flights out of Oz, by 767, on 8-hr legs which are reasonable in a 747 or A340, say, but not in a 767.

Ian - I always hope to be seated beside a rich widow but it hasn't happened yet - but you have touched on the 767 problem - the window recess is so shallow that there is nowhere to go, especially when two 120kg ladies are in the other two seats ohmy.gif
