If there's going to be a referendum...

I would go that in your screen but white nose ( with a crisp defining line) - and with maybe deep blue to the Black on the logo .... just to break the colour .

To be honest I think it looks great but I get the impression I'm not in the majority.

Yeah it looks like they couldn't decide what to have and what to leave in so they just threw it all together.
There were some very nice (clean) designs floating around a while ago that would have been great.
Black is Ok as a once off, to gain attention, but not really as a fleet wide permanent scheme.

Its strange to think with all the aircraft and aviation forums and creative artistic peoples why a country competition was not held for a standard fleet paint ... guess it comes down to one in an office looking after his job, still would have been a great idea.

I hope the Rugby Board is paying them well. It's a giant All Blacks ad.

Guess it go's to show the flag is out of the question, two things in war is the colour YELLOW and the other a White Feather .. both signs and marks of cowardice, one reason the Kiwi was replaced by the fern on the RNZAF roundel.

OK in fairness I think the black is a promotional one-off.

But even with a pale front it looks as if it fell ass-first into the inkwell, to me.
(My poll it is true, is no less bigoted in its question than my one-eyed take on this matter.)

I like the new White livery, let's face it, anything that can make an A320 (not referring to your 767 pic, don't think they'll be getting a repaint) look ok has gotta be a positive thing right?

END OF THE DAY < I really hate that saying, Least there is some insight rather than following the world ... whoops ... marketing, only following the sheep again rather leading the herd.

The new livery looks to me like it was designed by an accountant. Not a fan of it.
With so many great schemes out there to compete with, and Air NZ being such a world class airline, it's a shame that the paint on the plane doesn't match the service inside. Kind of like "budget airline 101" outside, and much better inside. Doesn't match in my opinion. Plus the awful silver fern, and black and white cliche thing which I'm sure I've moaned of before. Ok, done now, sorry lol

Air NZ can put cartoon characters on their aircraft if they like, but don't mess with the flag!

Negatory .... Flag needs messing with , but not a Fern or a Maori theme, interpret the country history ... Old saying across many forums and people don't see IS how close the flag looks like Australia ... Need to get rid of the Royals ,
Hells .. If the Govt are willing to change names ... Mt Cook or Mt Egmont I grew up with they sure as hell can change a flag.

Well... yes and no.
They do pay Nielsson a lot of money to clinic the new designs, and social media are becoming a part of that process.
This is a social medium.

Toprob with great perspicacity has recognised what this discussion is all about: Brand NZ.
The Minister of Tourism clearly sees this as an opportunity for a unified branding exercise, to sell everything from milk solids to Wanaka ski trips.
Change is inevitable, (and not necessarily bad).
I haven't seen a really solid argument present itself yet, though there are
some interesting symbols to play with.

Least its sure as ell better than the previous paint em up jobs .... a paint job is an artwork .... an artwork is something that draws people ... to the company ..

why doesn't managment go all out for a new theme and while they're at it they could split off the domestic from the international fleet and have a separate colour for each, maybe teal and blue stripes with a white Koru for the international - and something funky like an orange and red pair of stripes with a stylized petrel on the tail for domestic? Oh I think they also need a wheel invented as well.

I don't have anything against a new flag -- sooner or later we'll ditch the Jack -- but a new flag needs to be more than just a brand mark, and it needs to still look like a flag. Here's the last successful black and white flag:

Looking at those designs at NZFlag.com, there are a couple of good ideas. I do like Michael Smythe's Koru designs, even the black one, but a flag needs colour.

I agree with Rob. Don't let a flag become a branding symbol.
I don't see anything particularly wrong with the current flag as it quite accurately depicts our history and presence. The union jack for origin, the blue of the pacific and the Southern cross for location and Maori navigation.
This black and white obsession will become boring very quickly (if not all ready). Do we really want the country branded after a sporting team?
