By the looks of SUH flying this far, it has been retired from service yesterday or so, despite it being ferried AKL-BNE-MFM-? for scrapping

Recent location on FR24

About SUH
First flight in 1991 then delivered to ILFC and then Varig.
Delivered second hand from Varig into ANZ in 1994 on operation lease from ILFC
Name "Dunedin"
Brought out from lease by Air NZ in 2010
Registration is set in honour of an ILFC executive

Now this 23 year old 747, gone from our skies but will not be forgotten. Down to just 1 now which is NBV. sad.gif

Damn strange to think, one thought little ole NZ would not see a 747, everyone's and my 1970s Observer's handbook, then come that day the first visit by QANTAS in January 1972.

ZK-SUH will finish up at the end of the month. The last Air NZ 747 flight will be from San Francisco. Departs on the 10th of Sept and arrives on the 12th. There are plans for a city flyover. This will be the first time Air NZ has not had a 4 engine aircraft in its fleet.

Be nice to do the entire country - the low level pass, gos back to 1981 from the first ANZ 74 in CHCH or roundabouts, amazing aircraft to fly on.

I guess it come down with the times engine reliability, strange tho NZ being very isolated the four engine would have been a choice , what scored the brownie points with DC-10s in the 1970s.
