Found some new (better?) spots, figured out some better settings on my camera...auto mode has its place but not when you know (sort of) what you're doing.

Yep, got there just in time. Wouldn't have known it was coming if I didn't see it up on flightradar.

Great post thumbup1.gif I think i know where you are for most of the shots ... but the first one has me stumped .

First one was a bit further up from the Aero Club entrance. The herc was the first time I'd seen them on flightradar (appeared at SKIER72), but I think it may have been delayed. When I left home it was still just outside of Timaru, when I got to the airport it was just landing.

First time flightradar, most anything Mil has always been difficult to track, don't see why , would create more interest.

Yeah I was surprised as anything to see it on there, I'd seen the odd RNZAF Hercs and 757 pop up on there from time to time but never the LCs or C-17s. It's funny how some things work out, I was about to ask on here if anyone knew the rough times the LCs/C-17s were coming/going, and then one pops up on flightradar.

I think its more the US arm force worry having or hi-lighted as targets, a few years back when still able to get up on the roof it was locked due a UNITED 747 parked on the gate, I went to airport staff was told is was lock due to security.

Then when you think we were aloud to crawl around a C-17 and everything else couple months back at the open Antarctic day the USAF were more than happy for us to kick the tires and climb into areas allocated for the engineers.

Minty guy ..... all those ice flights are weather dependent (at the destination) Ive seen a few LC's , load , start and taxi , only to come back again because of a last minute weather report from the ice.
I will have to keep a close eye on FR24 from now on.
