Just saw this. I have to admit, I'm surprised that it lasted this long. Homebuilts don't tend to last that long.

Many years ago I looked at building one of
these with a flying colleague.
It even had FADEC which was quite new at the time. RC heli's was as far as I got.

Yeh those Rotorways are pretty bad news. I don't think I'd fly one.

I wasn't aware that they had a bad reputation (not that I am involved in the heli scene). What's the issue with them?

Poor crash protection and the engines that inevitably get involved tend to go pop.

I was thinking/talking about this last night , Rick stopped thru , has three types off hang-gliders .. even a swing wing or VG they call them, .. but when you get the energy of a rotor on a home-built helicopter we both passed .
