A real sleeper, this aircraft.
Direct competition to the 787; 800+ orders, but without all the programme baggage.

Not bad looking in Cathay livery, too.

:D Love how they keep selling the old message 25% more economical than any other airline in a tabloid as if Joe public is going to be interested , they simply want to get to Hong Kong :D

Haven't seen too much about passenger seat comfort: the A350 is a bit wider in the cabin than the 787.
So seat width (jamming in 9 abreast) is 45.7cm vs 44.4cm.
That 1.3cm advantage is probably not enough to make good advertising copy, but might make the difference between arriving shattered, or absolutely disabled... B-)

When they pitch to airlines, they base it on 10-abreast sardine can figures and come up with a seat-mile cost less than the competition.
Either way the consumer is at the end of the queue.

Air travel is an exercise in how hard can you screw passengers before they vote with their feet and switch.
Turns out: really hard.

I wish I still had that ARBUST pamphlet showing 1960's man .. then they say 2000 man and that was printed and was available during the 1988 Australian Bicentennial Airshow ... today i'd just have to be careful I don't slip between the seat cushions :D

I'm curious to see what this aircraft is going to be like. I've got this flight booked in Jan on the way out from Vancouver via Hong Kong. I've heard it's quieter than the 787. The 787 is pretty quiet though, so it would have to a damn extraordinary aircraft to beat the the 787. Be interesting to compare the 2 in a few months.

Though you can't beat the window dim switch on the Dreamliner. It's all I played with for the first 2 hours of the flight haha.

I was in cattle class, first time on the 777 , I was close in by the wing ... mind you my nose is always up against the window , personal I thought the aircraft were was noisier compared to the 747 , I guess don't push ya nose against the window and listen for things.

Be great to read a one-to-one unbiased passenger opinion on the two!
