looks like they did a good job ... AND had a lot of luck.
Emergencies are always a sure fire way to get the heart rate up, fortunately all the ones I've dealt with have had the
occupants either walk or at least be able to be carried away and survive. (fingers crossed it stays that way!).

Blimey...Screaming!.... ....!

That's all ATC need, is a panic-stricken, red-neck pilot, poo-ing his pants!

Time for a different occupation, methinks!.... :wink2: ....!

10/10 for ATC who always keep their "cool"....thank goodness!

Paul.... :D ...!

Me?...I just close my eyes and hope that the problem will go away... ... ....!

In any situation access what is going on first ... I do believe that is what instruments are, that person should not even be flying without an instructor, if flying at all

all easy to say - but until you find yourself in the brown runny stuff for real you can only hope that you will react in the calm professional manner that you
hope you will.

I sort of remember an old saying along the lines of -

"the only difference between a hero and a zero is 60 seconds."

it was by a soldier who got a medal for staying and fighting when everyone else ran away. When asked why he hadn't run he said it was because he hadn't realized
everyone else was already gone or he would have been as well.

Some people may look cool calm and collected under pressure - but they are usually one of two types.
The ones that don't really understand just how bad things really are, and the others screaming silently in their heads ... F#ck, f#ck, f#ck don't let me screw this up!

B-)

I can get a witness here regard to my situation, setting and maintaining an automatic lathe , the drill dia: size was 40mm but it was sharpen to drill a flat bore hole, this was an air compressed machine with an auto load, the bar, steal was 60mm X 3.6 meters long, the compressor out the back blew it's top and all the airlines relaxed except for the electric pusher on the bar feed .... ,

In the machine it is like walking around an aircraft APU , a loud hum, so I did not hear the pneumatic/hydraulic collet open , inside the machine looking the other putting the drill into the tapered mount and adjusting centers ... next along come the bar , First thought flatten my hand , sharp edge on the bar end and prepare for a pin prick, had move I would have ripped my hand apart so I let it relaxing on the sharp edge and let it take the weight of the electric bar pusher , now pinned , I had a 1.3 meter reach to lock everything down .. DONE !

Steve Steinz , I was training him up on the smaller Traub automatic machines , I called him over and said , I just need a little help , Steve is a big boy and thought needed a hand to lift a machine part in ... he still joke about it the way I said as I quietly yelled , Arr Steve, "Could I get you over here just to me a little hand" , he said hang on .. be with you in jiff , gave him the thumbs up .... no prob s ..... he comes across , starters don't touch anything on the control panel ... getting of it was straight forward , ...... think what is happening a decide the best approach .

Steve did go in PANIC MODE , but told him simply calm down , I talked him through the machine operation and my recommends ... first is reversing the bar-feed .. going to be crunchy here as it jumps back .. DONE , still pinned with a length off material that takes two people to lift and course the center of the flat bottom drill bit ... because the compressor did the funky chicken it was just a case off going into the back release the hydraulic brake and adjust it as if you are adjusting the drill depth ... then with a bar go to the carridge of the machine push it back on it slide .... Done !

NO INJURY AT ALL .. you always get cuts from swaff and .. machine malfunction , thought nothing of it.
