It is interesting what C130's can carry these days. :plane:
Notice that there is only two throttles! Does the RNZAF version have just two throttles?

Nice link Subs. When you think about it, there isn't much a C-130 can't do, and they are still being built.
RNZAF hasn't taken ownership of the J at this point, but I assume the cockpit will be the same.
Interesting point you make about only two throttle levers, so, to my non-flight engineering brain, you can't control the power to individual engines ...I must be missing something.

There are 4 throttles if you look closer. There are 4 knobs, but the levers are back to back on left and right throttle pairs, making it look like there are just two.

There is new technology for the C130 which includes FLY BY WIRE, HIGHLY ACCURATE NAVIGATION SYSTEM, AUTOMATIC PITCH CONTROL, POWER CRUISE, AUTO-LAND, AUTO INFLIGHT REFUELLING and a lot of other cool stuff which will make the C130 much more economical, safe and efficient to operate. The C17 is also getting similar upgrades. AUTOMATIC PITCH CONTROL controls the Pitch of the propellers automatically making it more efficient and simpler to operate. The MV22 has this and it improves the performance considerably. If it has AUTOMATIC PITCH CONTROL then the throttles can be just two throttles to control 4 engines with sub-modes.
