Will be interesting to see how it all pans out. A great idea me thinks to use the ERJ145, will give airnz link a run for their money. Go KIWIJET !

The EMB-145 will be relatively cheap to acquire (there is currently a glut in regional jets at the moment because airlines are moving back to turboprops in the regional market as fuel prices climb) but they won't be as economical as a turboprop. At least they will be attractive to those cities that don't currently have jets servicing them and looks like they could have a reasonable frequency with 12 in the fleet.

If they could afford it my choice would be the Q400 - which is almost as fast as a jet on routes in NZ and probably faster for shorter routes whilst also being very economical - but I bet there are no second hand ones around.

Interesting to say the least, but I think I'll watch this space

Well, I sincerely hope they manage to get started and turn a profit, for one thing it would be nice to see the Embraer 145 in NZ skies, but I still have serious reservations about the feasability of such a venture.

they'll be interesting to see in N.Z.
Where do you think they'll park at Wellington.
I say gates 18A 18B 19 and 20 (possible 18A and B repainted along with 19 to make room for the aircraft)

Not quite...

The timeline for the launch has now been pushed back to the spring of 2008.

Yay! Just more variety in the NZ skies! Should make it just that little bit more interesting to go 'planespotting' in the school holidays..

Another Question, is this Kiwijet an independent company or a subsidary of another?

they're not a subsidiary but a major U.S. airline (I think it was southwest or U.S. Airlines) are strongly supporting it and are helping it get of the ground.

Not literally it'd be a bit weird seeing Southwest/ US Airlines staff throwing an ERJ-145 into the air.

Yeah I've seen it on the news, the guy starting it up is bankrupt and in debt by literally millions. I don't have much hope for them, it'll be another Origin Pacific <_<

Could be some dodgy doings... :ph43r:

How has he come up with the money to pay for this? I presume he has investments offshore or something. :(
