I was watching a couple of You Tube videos (as you do) and I came across an interview with Chuck Yeager. In it he mentions he flew over 200 aircraft in his career. This got me thinking - how many aircraft have I flown in..........it wasn't easy thinking back, but heres my list. Bear in mind I am not a pilot, but being in the RNZAF has allowed me to fly in most of our military aircraft. There are a few other lucky flights in there too. *indicates aircraft where I have had the controls and flown.

Nice - always wanted a flight in a Cresco. I'd also like to get more Helo time - had a few goes flying the Huey and it was a lot of fun. Was able to do a reasonable hoever and hover taxi after not much flying - a testament to Flight Sim practice I guess - even though the real thing was a lot more touchy.

Yes, i have a 'flights.txt' file on my pc. I put it together based on memories but as the file has grown, I've added fields to it and started recording them. As you can imagine, I now have a reasonable 'passenger checklist' any time I fly on any airliner. In some cases, the registration field is used to record which route we took (route A or route B from PM to CH). I did warn you that it was sad.

Because I haven't had much flying experience, I have to collect meaningless stats. For example, the first two ATR flights marked the first time I had flowing out of Palmerston north airport since the terminal had been re-modelled (it happened about 10 years earlier), as well as being the first time Ihad ever flown in a T-tail aircraft. A little after that is a PM-CH flight in the Saab, which was historic since it was the first time I had ever left Palmerston North airport in a low-wing turboprop. There is also a series of flights:

See, like I said, it's REALLY sad!

Far out I'm envious! Do the airforce let all their personal have a fly of their aircraft- you seen to have a huge wealth of experience!

Well as I worked as a techo on both 14 and 5 squadrons it was part of the job sometimes. My Strikemaster flight was fortunate as I was on Squadron less than a year - they tried hard to get everybody up for at least one flight while you were there. At 5 Sqn - Orions - I travelled overseas (as far as Halifax Canada) and around the country on them and clocked up over 200 hours as a passenger. I also got to go up on a couple of C130 low level nav and Load drops, just because I wanted to have a look and my mate was the flight Engineer. Other flights were simply military passenger transport flights. Any chance I get I'll go !! Yes the pilots will sometimes let you have a go at the controls.

This was many years ago and more than one occasion - one of my mates Dads flew Agwagons (he still flys topdressers - Fletchers now - he must be one of the highest time ag pilots still flying)- anyway the seat for the loader driver/passenger in a Agwagon is jammed next to the pilot and very tight - I had one or two flights in the Agwagon on actual topdressing runs through the hills - the other time we had three (!!) of us jammed in the cockpit (my mate sat on me and I sat on the passenger seat - I was a bit smaller then about 16 if I recall) on a flight from Stratford to New Plymouth (flew up ther to get something fixed on the plane) on very wet and bumpy flight. My mate whacked his head several times on the roof in the turbulence - betcha OSH/CAA would have a heart attack if they saw this done this now!

Hmm the chippy is definately one of the nicest planes I've flown although I've only done one flight. Very harmonised and balanced etc but tis let down by the bomb site cockpit typical of pommy military machines and so is not the easiest to operate. Taxing is a bit of a pain with the old pinky ring brake handle,- could be better ! A bit underpowered too, would love to have a go in the super chippy :drool: My fav would have to be the mighty cessna 180 and 185 cos they nice to fly, have oodles of power, can go almost anywhere and a bit of a challenge to handle :) nothing beats the mighty 185, tis a true allrounder, hence the sign in name I spose :lol:
