If it's air Nelson (if your on a Dash 8), then yip sure, I've had 2 jumpseat trips, one last year and one this year. Just ask the Flight attendant nicely and hope the captain says yes.

Not sure about the other link airlines or ANZ itself though

You certainly can, I recently had a good chat to the pilots on the 737-300, it was great. They only allow you up the front after the flight, ask a flight attendent and they will ask the pilots if its alright, then they will let you in there after the flight.

Thanks
James

The turn around times these days are getting quite tight, so don't be surprised if it's just a flying visit, but with a 7 year old on your arm, you're almost certain they won't turn you down

my bro and I were about that age my mum was able to take us in the flight deck of a 747. Got a signitured postcard and was told "why they didn't fly the plane all the way"(autopilot) A great experience. It may help to ask in advance to flying out

My mate got a jumpseat ride in a Pacific Blue 737 from Wellington to Auckland the otherday- he just told the flight attendant he was into aviation and requested to see the cockpit.

I think just for the cruise and landing, but still very cool!
