Excerpts from an Air New Zealand Press Release that was published a couple of days ago...

QUOTE
Air New Zealand customers flying on domestic jet services can look forward to an improved complimentary inflight service from Monday, February 4.
QUOTE
Weekdays from the first flight of the day through until 9am, customers will be able to enjoy muesli or a muffin, new great tasting Gravity plunger coffee, tea, orange juice, water and a complimentary newspaper.
QUOTE
Between 5pm and 8pm award winning wines from the Air New Zealand Wine Awards as well as beer, the iconically Kiwi L&P, tea, coffee and water will be available. The beverage service will be accompanied by a selection of Kapiti cheese, crackers and grapes.
QUOTE
During the day, after 8pm, and all weekend, a selection of great tasting nibbles are being introduced - healthy dried fruit, savoury Cassava chips and sweet NZ lollies, as well as tea, coffee and water.
It'll be nice to have these things, but it looks like they are only offering them on weekdays...

Also, if they said they commenced a review of domestic services 12 months ago, why did they take away the biscuit whilst the review was ongoing? Sounds like more reliable, coordinated, directed efforts from Air NZ again (i.e. they have some form of competition, so they get their act together)...

It beats water, a stolen hotel muffin and ten handfuls lollies the FA gave me (there were no other people remotely eligible for lollies, she said) from one time I flew NZ domestically (on a Sabb no less!)

Also, Cassava crisps are Signature Range, no?

Only on jet services though... Where's the biggest competition again?

This is how it was back in the days when Ansett NZ was reasonably new and only flew the token AA, WN, CH, DN + tourist trap sectors. The service levels on routes also served by Ansett was vastly different from that on routes where ANZ had the monopoly.
