I was at Tauranga airport yesterday and was surprised to see an American regisetered Kaman K-max.

Really strange chopper - single seat built for hauling big loads - intermeshing twin rotors - ... see here for more info on it. I guess it is here for logging work.

I took a photo with my phone but it didnt turn out very well - Ill try and get a decent shot of it with my camera sometime.

The K-Max doesnt have a tailrotor either. Great to see in action though.

If it is in Tauranga still on sunday i may see it ;)

There was a Very good FS model for it , searched the large FS sites , been taken off , I guess its in my librairy somewhere

Ive heard from reliable sources that the K-max is registerd to Columbia Helicopters in the US. Probably wont be brought onto the NZ register.

Not the same one GASKA , this other model was created by a Swedish chap , and it was equal to the best , VC ..full package .

Aha, that was the same company that owned that big Boeing helicopter that was here a while back (the thing that looks like a civilian Chinook - sorry, don't know my helicopters very well!)

A Boeing-Vertol 107 it twas
