Can you enlighten us Tom? A 737-200 & two ex Air National Jetstreams to join the fleet? Or is this just rumours?

737-200 would be awesome!

Just saying, as this appears to be a rumour, didn't Tom post about his Dad saying that his Dad didn't like the Jetstreams?
That they were cheap but a nightmare from an air operator's point of view.

Found it: "really can't see the ugly side of 1900's, perhaps its because i've seen the rewards of operating them as opposed to a better looking but quite frankly horrendous aircraft like a J31/32 or metro. I think my dad and i figured out you could buy four J31's for the price of one 1900D, but it's just not worth it..."

Could happen though I suppose because they're really cheap to operate. I wouldn't actually know anyway :P

Cheers
Anthony

I wonder who came up with that preposterous idea...
:ph43r:

Dw about deleting the topic, appears a few people have already 'heard the rumour'.

Righto, I've talked to Dad.

VA will be getting two J31/32s in the near future, based out of Wellington for charter work, as they are significantly cheaper to operate than a 1900, making chartering an aircraft a more cost effective option than it is currently, which will appeal to sports teams/school groups etc.

VA will definitely be getting another Dash 8-100 for scheduled work from Darwin, probably to continue growth on the Darwin- Groote Eylandt- Cairns route, which before VA came along was almost non-existent in terms of demand.

Va is also currently looking at an ex-Delta Airlines Boeing 737-200Adv, which were some of the last ones made in the late '80s. Because of this, they are in great condition, and have the same interior as a 737-300, so would work well covering an ANZ route if a 737-300 breaks down. It will be a welcome change from dodgy old -NQC, as if the deal goes ahead the 737 will have a brand-new interior and new paint, and will be immaculately maintained in the typical VA style :D .
Dad's going to Tucson, Arizona next weekend. (No, Not Indonesia! :P )

Y'all know now!

Anytime!
I've been on Youtube watching vids of JT8D-15s on and off for like the last week

Dad was saying that perhaps there could be some kind of Livery Design competition in the future, with seats to Omaka Warbirds for prizes. If it's ok with Trolly of course! :D

Yep, retired from Delta service in about 2005, so hasn't been there long. I'd love to go on the delivery flight!

Nothing wrong with NQC. Very well maintained with an excellent dispatch reliability record.

Erm- maybe mechanically, certainly not Aesthetically. Va's 737 will be well maintained in all areas.

If you get the chance, go there. (that is, if you havent already been) Go to pima air and space museum, it is fantastic. And big. Really BIG. Sooo many planes  oh, did I mention that it is pretty big ?? you could put every aviation related museum in nz togeather and it wouldnt be anywherer near as huge as this place. Also have the davis monthan (if thats how you spell) air base bone yard, really cool.
