Some of you may have heard of Mission Aviation Fellowship, others may not have heard of them. They are a christian aviation group operating for over 60 years, who fly airplanes all over the world in support of christian missionaries and humanitarian relief. I have relatives who were supported in the highlands of PNG by MAF in the 1980's and they were too scared to watch the planes land. Last year MAF pilots carried 120,350 passengers and 11.3 million pounds of cargo over remote jungles, swamps, mountains and deserts.

Here is a nice bush landing from the MAF website:

I have been supporting these guys for a while now - mainly out of awe for what they do and because a former (current?) Flight Simmer from Christchurch Neville van Eerten is a pilot with Mission Aviation Fellowship:

You know how you get those adds where you can sponsor a child? Well since we all have at least a passing interest in aviation you could sponsor a pilot.

Or you could even adopt a plane!

I don't apologise if some of you think this is a bit preachy but these guys do a great & dangerous job all over the world and just a little part of me wishes I could do some of this as well. I'm not aligned with MAF in any way I just think this is a great cause - and Neville is a pretty good bloke!

Wow, I've never heard of these guys before. Thanks for the link, it made for some very interesting reading. I'll pass the site onto some friends and family and will try and flick them a few dollars when I have some spare.

Also, it would be great to see some of their aircraft represented in FS on the Carenado 206 model for example. Does anyone know what area that airstrip from the landing video is in?
