Okay at the end of this year I'm taking off on another holiday.

I've established that Qantas Economy on 747-400's do have AVOD (audio, video on demand - just like in singapore):

Do British airways have AVOD in economy or only in first etc...?

Yeah, they recently upgraded the whole fleet, just doing 767s now I think. But if your on a 777/747 your fine.

They've got to have something, surely. Even if it's not AVOD it should still be pretty good.
Having said that AVOD is the best, I love it.

I know they've got TV screens on their 744's but I wasn't too sure if it's AVOD for their economy class. Every where I looked was a little vague...

While the Qantas 744s do have AVOD it can often run slowly, has a tendency to crash and is painful to navigate if you want say the second episode of a tv series as you just have to fast forward through the first episode. So not quite up to par with the likes of Air NZ and presumably Singapore Airlines. I'm not so certain that BA do have AVOD but they certainly do have personal tvs so its just on the loop system as I would have thought that if they did have AVOD you would see it marketed on their website which I am unable to see.

cheers for that.
The Singapore system is slow (about 2-5 seconds to react) is that what you mean for slow?
Here's hoping for BA.
Has anybody been on BA recently?...

We recently flew cattle class from CHC to Cape town Via Singapore. I Found the on demand system was awesome. We did have some trouble with our section having to be rebooted to get Movies but it was awesome. There was a good doco on the A380 testing programme on there which I think I saw about 3 times during the outbound and return trip. I think the highlight was the screen that shows whats going on outside. We saw the 3rd A380 touchdown in Singapore just after us. It was on it's delivery flight. Ohhh that was the window not the tv screen. Could not fault the system or the service on SQ at all. OOps I work for NZ so we are better though.

sorry for old thread up, but BA have AVOD on all classes in all 747, and most of all 777(they are changing cabins on checks etc, probably they finished it allready). Dont know about 767. On european routes they have 2 types of A320, one with screens overhead(they are showing flight map there) and another without. Its touchscreen there and headseat i think with 2 3.5mm pins. Probably the best airline in Europe. Their seats in Club World(business) is awesome. LH are so disgusting, they have AVOD only in A346, and some 747. Seats are made from wood i think because its unreally to spend there more than 3 hours. Meal is very avarage, crew is quite cold(especially german).

Well QANTAS was good. Not quite up to par with Singapore but still very good in the aspect of AVOD.
