Flights getting deverted @ NZWN

Hey Just been listening to my scanner and heard flights asking to be diverted to NZPM and even some heading back to wear they came from
As wellington airport is covered in fog Flight NZ450 made two attempts at landing before getting diverted to NZPM There has been a halve a dozen planes getting deverted I just thought i would let you all know.

Heck, looks pretty bad. Always pretty fun listening to them going around and things. Rotorua was pretty bad yesterday mainly with the low cloud, with the Qantas 737 diverting to Auckland and a Vincent Dash 8 going around on its first attempt. It managed to get in on the second time but was rocked around link crazy from wind shear.

Rain and thunderstorms here today as well, though not as bad. Did have to do PE in the rain though

Wasn't that bad at school today (my school is right next to NZWN) and only the southern end of the Rwy was covered with 16 being in use.

Yeah but the fog rolled in at around 2:45 (I was in English period 5 and suddenly I was becoming hard to view some of the school buildings...)

Oh ok, yea I did notice it was closing in quite a lot during maths last period, but I can't see Rwy 16 from my maths class. Seemed to be lifting by the time I was walking home though.

I thought there was a to need to be able to see a substantial amount of runway at 250ft (ie minimums).

At about 1600 today, the tower was unable to see the other side of the runway for about 20mins just before the rain set in.

It lifted just as a Qantas flight was about to leave the hold pattern to head back to AKL. They had one shot at getting in as they were down to the last few minutes of fuel (allowing enough to get back to AKL).

Turns out it cleared 100ft above minimums for them.

What I meant was that the northern end of the rwy- where approach and touchdown was happening- was clear, while the southern end was shrouded in fog- it was pretty awesome to see actually.
