No!!! How can anyone think they're sexy? I think the winglets on 767's look damn ugly! Especially the SIZE of them. I suppose it's worth it for the fuel savings though...

I reckon they look good, but that's after seeing an AA 767 with them. That was a photo, not a CG diagram like this article.

When are the 767's being phased out? I would have thought the investment would only return marginally, as the cost of putting them on would not have been recouped by the time they're replaced... unsure.gif

I suppose they are doing the work here, which would mean they could (almost) stay in continual service.

Yeah, I agree with alex. The 767s are being phased out 2010? something like that, when the 787s come. They couldnt be saving that much money could they? maybe they are!

But yeah, perhaps ANZ have plans to keep them in service a little longer?

Good point Tom. I was just gonna say that if you look at that photo then cover up the winglets, it still doesn't look like a 767. It looks out of proportion like a 777 to me, except the fuselage has a definite curve to it. The nose is pointing much more toward the top of the screen than the tail is.

Given the 787 is yet to fly.... Look at the delays the A380 had even after flying. It would seem foolish to bet your company's future on an aircraft that has already been delayed and doesn't yet exist arriving by its amended amended delivery date. Also, what are Air New Zealand's options at the end of the life of their 767s if the 787 does happen to arrive on time? Winglets will significantly increase their potential resale value.
