Sydney Airport Spotting

Just some shots from when I was down there last week. Shot from the International Terminal viewing area- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Its a great spot if you dont have a car, just come of a flight or whatever. Holes in the glass, outdoor area and everything, shame the bloody Qantas A380 lounge is blocking some of the view now! sad.gif

Again, excuse the dust spot..

Cheers Ben

I just love flying into this airport , you must see for the next time , if they still have the airport tour , airside in a bus in and around the ... 2 hours runways ,tarmac . go on hold as liners pass , in around cargo .. one mentioned during the tour , the original tower from Mascots early days is still there .. guessing you have caught it in a couple off shots .
Superb pics Ben cool.gif

Lots of smoke! Jeez, Malaysian cargo looks just a tiny bit BEAT UP, FedEx...haven't seen that livery in a while. Which plane is it? I think it's a DC-10 but looks a bit like an MD-11 aswell....It must be an MD-11, winglets..wing engines look closer to the fuselage...

Grate shots!

Thanks Guys!

Peppermint- Yeah, it was a really windy day, you can expect a bit of smoke on days like that cool.gif

As for MASKargo, what can you expect, its a 747-200, but did you check out the tail on that British Airways 747-400 ohmy.gif

And yes its an MD-11, I think they fly daily to SYD.

I found a good way to get out amongst the aircraft... but you need to be flying internationally...

Take the transfer bus between the international pier's... ie. from the side with gates 20-30 over to gates 50-70 and back again... they look at you a bit funny when you act all casual, and tell them you have lots of time. This is because it is usually only used by people who went through the wrong immigration area and are running late for flights etc.

Kinda hard to shoot good photos from a moving bus tho ninja.gif

Love the pics, good viewpoint by the looks. The CathayCargo one is fantastic, love that bare polished metallic look, cool being able to see the junctions between the panels etc. Also loving that FedEx MD-11, I just bought one on TradeMe (ok, a scale model one not full size :-) .. here's a pic I just took of it with your shots in the browser window behind

Cool pics again Ben thumbup1.gif
That dust spot is quite hard to see, but I can see why it would annoy you!
Dust is probably the worst part of SLR cameras in my opinion.

Thanks Anthony, but yes, your right. It is really annoying- Even though its so small it just works away at you until you get it fixed!

In photoshop, open it up and Equalise the image, they will stand out like a sore thumb then!

But TBH, I cant find any on these pictures!! I was told they had spots in them, but couldnt be bothered checking, thought I know there is dust in photos I took after this date.

There's also a good place to sit in the domestic terminal at the food court windows you can see both runways and the international terminal (some of it)while eating something of your choice smile.gif
