errrr High Aspect Ratio wings are the type that gliders use... so I'm guessing you meant something else?

was just thinking that myself too, are they not Anhedrial high aspect ratio wings? im not sure...cant say ive geezed much at them from front on, maybe they're Dihedral. I'm sure someone here knows the aspects of the Dash family. and just to ask another question, do they have a great safety record? all the old chaps from our flight school relate to them as "Crash 8's" or "terror tubes" im not sure if they're taking the p#ss or not?

The dash 8 family have a very high aspect ratio wing. Its just trying to fly with ice on ya, in all A/C is difficult in sever cases over powering.
"maybe they're Dihedral" correct 2.5 degrees. The actual cause if this crash is still conjecture at this point. If icing was indeed a primary factor, it was more than likely caused by wing or tailplane stall due to excess frozen contamination of the leading edge and / or primary lifting surfaces. the Q400 has had trouble with Landing gear issues and was grounded for this issue. "Crash 8's" or "terror tubes" not at all as well known to the dash 8 i would rate them over many other turboprops.

The High Aspect wing was actually devolped pre WW2 and was known as the Davis wing , best example off the period or most famous was the B24 Liberator , aircrew preferred the B17 fort because being more stable and able to absorb battle damage were as the 24 required a lot of work from the pilot due to the wing , I guess you could say todays sail plane would have an Ultra High Aspect due to length and cord and weight loading thus superb for souring .
