Hmmm wonder if the Twin Stars are diesel powered - considering the problems with the current supplier

And yes, I was somewhat bewildered that a story about new aircraft just jumped into left field talking about an incident from 3 years ago that was completely unrelated...
The quality of the mainstream media has taken such a dive lately... it really is quite sad
IFR in a PA28 is a waste of time![]()
All you need is an ADF so you can rock along to radio hauraki while you fly haha

2000-05-27 - PA28 - ZK-MBG - 0.3 - Self - - First Solo
Is nostalgia a good enough reason?
I really like the Pipers... granted the entry and exit is a bit of an exercise in contortion... but then again, so is getting in and out of a 152 when you're 6'3"!!
I think the main reason is the extra ground effect from the low wing and nice oleo landing gear make my landings better (read as: they mask my ham-fisted landings!)ZK-KAG wrote:QUOTE (ZK-KAG @ Mar 11 2009, 08:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Jared, if I were you Id be after MBJ (newest engine), MBK (my favourite) or MBC (oldest engine but best airframe)
Thanks for the tips... I was really asking, because I thought it might be a good chance for the club to increase it's fleet and pick up a relatively decent IFR machine that was 'accessible' in terms of price...pois0n wrote:QUOTE (pois0n @ Mar 11 2009, 08:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>IFR in a PA28 is a waste of time
Cannot say that I agree with this... but horses for courses

IFR in a Cherokee is ok. Done heaps of it.Just be careful of the required climb gradients on SID's. Prefer the VOR routes so the ADF is free for listening to the radio. And take a coffee, and some chocolate.
I'll let you know what IFR is like in the DA40's!
Massey DA40CS order has been upgraded to the DA40XLS with full leather interior and all the optional bells and whistles! Six are ready to be shipped from the factory now.

All this talk about using the ADF to listen to the radio makes me wonder if Airways' decommissioning of NDBs programme isn't being done purely to enhance Pilots' in-flight-entertainment!

you guys are going to have fun filling them, espically if they are anything like the diamonds i used to refuel, anything more than a dribble you covered the wing and yourself in avgas, then if you had a nice wind rocking the wings you would get a slosh effect that made it damn near impossiable to fill to the top.
great cockpit's and avionics though, and really nice to fly from what i have been told too
