Three passengers on a Volcanic Air Safaris Cessna have avioided injury after their aircraft suffered engine failure and crashed into Lake Rotorua today.

Colin Underdown, shift manager at the Fire Service Northern Communication Centre, said a pleasure boat called the Lakeland Queen, which was on the lake at the time of the crash assisted in the rescue.

The Coastguard was also deployed to the scene.

Hey Guys,

After hearing about this I hopped on my bike and went out to the airport and managed to find it sitting in a hangar.
After take off it suffered from an engine faliure and came down onto the lake. It landed hard on a wave which caused the float struts to break.
It got towed back to the airport and brought into a hanger. The aircraft was ZK FEO and was a Cessna 206.

Cheers
Daniel

Heard about this a while ago. No injuries etc which is good.
More about this will be on both TV1 and TV3 tonight.

Saw another, closer picture of it really floating on it's side, which I'll see if I can find (that's not it)
